Sailing in St. Pete

Two weeks ago, Jennifer and I joined the Saint Petersburg Sailing Center, which is an extension of the St. Pete Yacht Club, just a lot cheaper. For $350 per year, they teach you to sail a 19' Rhodes, and let you take it out any time you want. Well, not any time, just any day that the weather conditions are safe, there are no scheduled events, and between 8AM and 5 PM. They call it "free sailing", which seems silly since you pay for membership. We have been out twice now, and really enjoy it. It is exhilarating to use no power, except that provided by the wind. None of the boats available for the "free sailing" are equipped with an engine, so it can take some time getting out of, or back into the marina, depending on the wind.
